NSCN-IM accepts 5-point resolution for peace

Dimapur, June 28 (MExN): The NSCN-IM has also accepted the five-point resolution of the joint forum of Nagaland GBs Federation and Nagaland DBs Association aimed at restoring peace and cessation of bloodshed. The NSCN-K had also accepted the same earlier. The joint forum shall be working out a follow-up action after completing its second round of talks as scheduled.

Appreciating the NSCN-IM leadership for reciprocating the call for peace, a note from the GBs’ president K Vikuto Zhimomi stated that the move has opened a new era of peace in the history of the Nagas’ socio-political existence. The Nagas should raise their “big voice” to appreciate the top leadership of the factions “for delivering to us goods of peace instead of bloodshed that have been delivered to Nagas before.”

The joint forum also expressed high expectation that the FGN would also uphold the declaration of non-violence made to the forum during the first round of talks. The forum will be having two rounds of talks with the FGN, June 29 and the 30th, for ‘reaffirmation and confirmation of their gentlemen declaration of non-violence policy towards peace,’ it was informed. Cadres of the groups are appealed to adhere strictly to the five point resolution.

A separate message from the NGBF also extended gratitude to the underground leaders for making a right decision, for the establishment of peace in Nagaland as initiated by the GBs and DBs.   This can be considered a “grace period” granted by God so that the Naga people would turn to Him and not rebel against His commandments again, the federation stated. “Shall we all contribute our God-given wisdom to make a new heaven of Nagaland on earth” the federation challenged.
