DIMAPUR, NOv 22 (MExn): The NSCN (IM) today advised Major General SS Kumar not to undermine the Naga people and their ‘anointed leader’ Thuingaleng Muivah and told him to rather “respect the people and the issue and you will be respected.” Reacting to the challenge placed by the General recently, the NSCN (IM) stated that it does not threaten or warn anybody, while also pointing out that it would adopt security strategies and that it was prepared for the worst.
Taking a dig at its rival faction, it stated that while they were engaged in bilateral ceasefire with the Government of India, the NSCN (K) and the Centre were in a ceasefire within the ambit of the Indian Constitution. Accusing Delhi of misinterpreting the ground rules of the cease fire according to their “wishes and conveniences,” the release said more than a hundred NSCN (IM) cadres had been killed by Indian armed forces during the period of declared cessation of violence.
“In fact the ground rules have nothing to do with the Khaplang group and NNC/FGN. The official Indian delegation had already given their commitment on several rounds of talks that these elements are already on their side and India shall deal with them,” the release stated.
It further accused the Assam Rifles of playing “dubious roles” and waging war against the NSCN (IM) by collaborating with the NSCN (K) and NNC/FGN and thus creating public insecurity in areas such as Athibung, Suruhoto and Phek.
