Dimapur, Jan 8 (MExN): The NSCN-IM extends its ‘highest’ apologies to Reverend Khrutsoi Luruo for his being assaulted by cadres of the organization on December 30. Expressing deepest sympathy to Reverend Luruo, Executive secretary of the Chakhesang Baptist Church Council, the NSCN-IM requested not to let the unfortunate incident hamper relationships but works together for a better future.
Tendering its apology, the NSCN-IM in a letter to the reverend, issued by Bohoto Sumi, Kilo Affairs, stated that the assault was in total violation of all ethics and moral conduct of the Naga army and also contrary to all ethical behavior of the Naga people as well Christian principles for which the organization regrets and for this “seek our sincere apologies”.
It stated that the erring cadres, namely ‘Private’ Ahon from Arunachal Pradesh and ‘Private’ Yursem from the Tangkhul Region are from the lower ranks “who went astray on their own accord and committed the heinous and resented acts to the utter detestation and against the NSCN code of conduct”.
“Although you have suffered personal inflictions through this incident, I would like to request your kind understanding, considering the implication which is being borne by the NSCN/GPRN” the letter stated.
The organization assured the church leader, who is also member of NBCC Peace Committee, that the cadres who committed the crime are now in ‘custody and undergoing trail according to the judicial process undertaken by the Joint Council of the GPRN.’
Also, the cadres were never directed by any authority of the organization but “on their own insane accord” committed the act. “They will not escape penalization but shall serve befitting punishment according to the gravity of their crimes which may range from forced discharge, suspension, demotion up to capital punishment” it stated. Maintaining that the NSCN-IM is staunchly against such crimes as perpetrated on the reverend, the letter requested that the incident not be made to hamper “our relationship”. Requesting all concerned to bear “till justice is delivered”, the NSCN-IM expressed deepest sympathy to Reverend Luruo and that the apologies be accepted, for which the organization shall remain obliged.
