Role of stakeholders should be totally focused on resolving and facilitating any differences, stresses Tuccu

Dimapur, September 1 (MExN): Chairman (Yaruiwo) of NSCN (IM) Q Tuccu has asserted that there could only be one Naga accord signed with the Government of India (GOI) and said “it was important to take all Nagas along for an inclusive solution covering all Naga inhabited areas.”

A press release from the Deputy Secretary to Yawuiro NSCN (IM), informed that Tuccu had ‘informal discussions’ with public leaders on August 30, before his planned departure to New Delhi soon. The leaders included Leader of Opposition TR Zeliang, who is also convenor of the newly formed Political Affairs Mission (PAM) of the Naga People’s Front; Naga Hoho President HK Zhimomi; President of Eastern Naga People’s Organisation Kekongchim Yimchunger; and President of Naga Students’ Federation Ninoto Awomi.

Earlier, the Chairman also held consultations with the 14 Naga Tribes of Nagaland, the release stated.

During the informal discussion, Tuccu said that it was time to be united for a permanent peaceful solution in the region and the role of stakeholders should be totally focused on resolving and facilitating any differences that would arise. 

He was of the opinion that, as there would only be one common Naga accord by GoI, it was important to take all Nagas along for an inclusive solution covering all Naga inhabited areas leading to conducive ecosystem of overall growth.

Further, in the final accord, all stakeholders would be included and their views consulted, the release stated. 

During the discussion that lasted for almost two hours, the leaders shared that “during the crucial phase of Naga peace talks, there was a need to have a common united voice” it said.

“They were of the view that there was a strong desire and aspirations of all Nagas for early peaceful solution...They reiterated the point that they would continue to actively participate to facilitate the peace process and appreciated the views of the NSCN (IM) chairman Q Tuccu and endorsed the need of a collective effort for peace in all Naga inhabited areas,” it added.
