PHEK, NOVEMBER 15 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Chakhesang Region has issued a public notice cautioning residents of Phek district against engaging in illegal activities, including the sale of liquor, drug peddling and extortion, within the Chakhesang Region.
In the notice dated November 15, the Central Administrative Officer (CAO) of Chakhesang Region said it has taken note of reports of illicit activities being carried out under its jurisdiction and warned that strict action would be taken against persons involved in the illegal sale or distribution of liquor. It said drug trafficking, sale and possession of narcotic drugs and psychotropic substances were strictly prohibited and offenders would face “severe action.”
The organisation further cautioned that extortion and imposition of illegal taxes on businessmen or individuals in the name of the NSCN (IM) would invite stern penalties. Those misusing the group’s name for personal gain would be “prosecuted to the fullest extent” deemed fit.
