
DIMAPUR, APRIL 26 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has issued a rejoinder to the news item published on April 26 in local dailies with regard to thethree women who were ”rescued” by the Assam Rifles and the Police. A press note by L Chuba Pongen, Central Administrative Officer UT-1, NSCN/GPRN stated that “certain contents of the said news item were fabricated and misconstrued.” He clarified that the three women “were not detained to collect ransom” but that “the entire exercise was initiated based on complaints that they were habitually collecting substantial amounts of money in assurance of government jobs.” The note further stated that the women “failed to deliver the jobs after a lapse of an elaborate of time.” It further informed that “one of them was detained based on complaints by their own family members as she has frequently sold off family properties including residential land.” The note also made clear that “they were provided with proper hygienic dwelling conditions at the time of their detention.” It added that the “initiative” was taken to “contain the nemesis of fraud and the rampant increase of unwanted conniving practices in our society.” The NSCN (IM) asserted that it would “always strive to uphold the interest and the welfare of the Nagas” and added that it “would never work against the well being of our society.”
