NSCN-IM clarifies over ‘assassination attempt’ allegations

Dimapur, Nov 21 (MExN): Senior  NSCN-IM functionaries Deputy Kilonsers Vitoi and Hekheto and Tatar Kihoi has issued a clarification in response to the statement of ‘Maj.’ Lhokishe of the NSCN-K that they were witness to Lhokishe’s meeting ‘Maj.’ Markson on November 1 at Ghatthashi, over an alleged assassination plan to do away with a former Sumi Hoho president.

A release from the three functionaries stated that a mobilization team headed by Steering Committee Convener from the Sumi Region reached ‘ZB Battalion headquarters’ of the Naga Army on October 31. There a fellowship service to invoke God’s blessings was held. The lodging quarters of the functionaries were arranged near the Sumi region camp “which was in a different direction from that of the Dy. Longvibu’s quarters quite a distance”. Therefore, the claim of ‘Maj.’ Lhokishe that the mobilization team was witness to the meeting with Dy. Longvibu, where the assassination plan materialized, is totally false as such kind of meeting was never “to our knowledge” as alleged, the release stated.

‘Maj.’ Lhokishe being in the Naga Army and was second-in-command of Sumi region “field operation forces”, frequent meetings between him and Dy. Longvibu is undoubted, it was also stated. “But, if as claimed by him of the assassination plot, why could not or did not he consult/inform this matter with the Sumi higher/senior authorities of the center as well as the region who were present there during that time, if ever it was true? As claimed by ‘Maj.’ Lhokishe, if ever such directive or order ever existed or was true, why were the mobilization team representing central authority not aware or informed of this alleged ugly plot which would have had adverse political repercussions if happened?” the releases questioned.

It is to be noted that if ever such a plot to assassinate the former Sumi Hoho president ever existed, it should have been in the knowledge of the mobilization team which included Deputy Kilonsers and Tatars headed by the Convener of Steering Committee, it stated reasserting that the allegations are totally false and baseless.
