Dimapur, September 12 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has viewed with serious concern the unabated loss of civilian lives in fake encounters in Manipur state describing it as the “sadistic nature of the notorious Manipur Rifles towards their own fellow citizens”. A press note issued through the MIP stated that this was another clear symptom of the dilemma the Indian state is in and its inability to deal with the problems of its own creation. “The popular voice of the people has, apparently, no impact on the authority under whose sanction the Manipur Rifles is given a license to kill its own people, even without provocation. This is a covert operation of Indian government’s nefarious policy of ‘fry the fish in the fish oil’”, stated the MIP note.
The MIP note termed as ironic the Government of India’s reaction stating that the “absence of seriousness and its attitude towards the people of northeastern India ever remains the same”. It lamented that the “cries of the women and children of the NE are never heard or presume not to have heard in Delhi” and that in order to “suppress the voice of the dissents targeting the unarmed innocent civilians is a blatant act of cowardice”.
The NSCN (IM) was of the view that had such incidents taken place in any other states of mainland India, there would have been a “noisy pandemonium in the Parliament House”.
The NSCN (IM) also claimed that the National Human Rights Commission of India, which is supposed to uphold the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, is set up by the GOI to safeguard its own interest and to deceive the outside world. “To champion the cause of other minorities elsewhere having concealed the worst crimes within its own border has no ethics”, it stated while pointing out that the actions of the Manipur Rifles towards the innocent civilians are beyond human tolerance. The NSCN (IM) noted that if the present trend continues further, the people in the region shall not hesitate to engage itself against the atrocities meted out by the Manipur Rifles.
