NSCN (IM) condoles passing away of Oscar Fernandes

Dimapur, September 14 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has expressed sadness on the demise of sitting Rajya Sabha member and former Union Minister, Oscar Fernandes. 

“In 2005, during the UPA government, he was appointed by the then Prime Minister Dr Manmohan Singh as a leader of a Group of Ministers to talk with the NSCN leadership under former chairman Isak Chishi Swu and General Secretary, Th Muivah,” stated a press note from MIP, NSCN (IM). 

“We fondly remember him coming to Amsterdam (Netherlands) and Bangkok (Thailand) in 2006 to discuss the Naga issue. We appreciate his sincerity to solve the Naga issue. We respect him for what he was. He was not an ordinary politician but a seasoned one. We regard him as the most liberal politician in India,” it stated. 

The note also stated that in his death, the Nagas has lost a very important personality and friend who understand the Naga political issue. It conveyed deepest condolences to the bereaved family members and to his many friends. “May God grant the soul of Oscar Fernandes a peaceful rest!” it added. 

Muivah condoles: The NSCN (IM) Ato Kilonser, Th Muivah has expressed deep pain and sadness on the demise of Teisovilie Seyietsu, Dy Kilonser, Angami Region. Teisovilie Seyietsu, who hailed from New Socünoma joined the national movement with full conviction and has served in various capabilities. “As a senior member of the region, he has shouldered many responsibilities, satisfying all. He left us a wonderful legacy to remember and cherish in all times. The nation owes a debt to the sacrifices and services rendered that can never be repaid,” a condolence note stated. “I on behalf of the Naga nation offer prayers to the Almighty God to comfort and protect the near and dear ones of the departed soul. May the Almighty God grant the soul an eternal rest,” the Ato Kilonser added. 

NSCN (IM) mourns: The NSCN (IM) has grieved the demise of L Ngashingpam, Section Officer (SO), Ministry of Forest and Environment (MFE), GPRN and Lance Corporal Joyson Thaimei, Army no. 43697/15 of Kiusumong Battalion, Naga Army on September 13 and also 2nd Lieutenant Isaiah Newme, Army no. 43392/15 of the General Headquarters (GHq), Naga Army on September 14.

The MIP, NSCN (IM) in a condolence note stated that the three Naga nationalists served the Naga nation with unwavering patriotism until their demise. The void created by their demise is deeply felt and would be difficult to fill in. “For their selfless contributions to the Naga national cause, their names shall be recorded in the pages of the Naga history and they shall be remembered for all time to come,” it stated. 

It also conveyed deep condolences to the bereaved family members and added, “It is our prayers that the Almighty God will comfort their family members during this time of grief. We pray for their souls to rest in eternal peace.”
