NSCN (IM) denies any hand in NC Hills violence

Dimapur, July 6 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) has clarified on the reported involvement of its cadres in an encounter with the Indian Army on July 3, 2009 in North Cachar Hills where one of its cadre was reportedly shot dead and another injured. An  MIP press note today termed the allegations as ‘baseless and fabricated’ which was nothing but a desperate attempt to ‘malign’ the NSCN by vested elements. The MIP press note made it clear that none of its cadre was killed or injured, nor any of them deployed or involved in any incident in North Cachar Hills. “The ongoing North Cachar Hills turmoil of ethnic clash is only a case involving DHD (J), Zeme public volunteers and Indian Army. The NSCN/GPRN has no hand in it whatsoever”, the MIP stated.

So far, the MIP stated, it was maintaining utmost restraint ‘honoring’ the ‘time-honored peaceful co-existence between the Nagas and the Cacharis from time immemorial’. “Those vested elements are inviting the fury of the NSCN/GPRN to add fuel to the fire to the already burning issue which is totally uncalled for”, it stated. The outfit  also requested the media to ‘cross check’ any information before publishing it ‘to avoid giving misinformation which has become detrimental to the Naga society.’
