NSCN (IM) Dy Kilonser Nogi Isaac laid to rest in Maram 

The funeral and condolence service of Nogi Isaac, Deputy Kilonser i/c Executive Officer, Maram Thangal Region of NSCN (IM) was held on March 9 at N  Raisung Ground, Maram Bazar.

Maram/Dimapur March 9 (MExN): The funeral and condolence service of Nogi Isaac, Deputy Kilonser i/c Executive Officer, Maram Thangal Region (MTR) CAA, NSCN (IM) was held today at N  Raisung Ground, Maram Bazar under the aegis of Maram Union.

Nogi reportedly died in an “unfortunate incident while he was on official duty” on March 8, according to a press release.  He left behind his wife and two sons.

Hailing from Maram Bazar, late Nogi joined the National service on October 6, 1994, and served as Deputy Home from February 15, 2015-April 26, 2017, in addition serving as the Executive Officer of the MTR periodically from April 2005 till his unexpected demise. He was promoted to Deputy Kilonser on the March 5, 2021.

Meanwhile a press release from the Maram Union (MU) informed that the service was held with the slogan, “Tell them of us and say; for your tomorrow, we give our today.”

Moderating the programme, MU General Secretary, Pungdi P Celestine said there is a time for everything while president K Raisong stated that with multitude of people attending the service from far and near, immediately upon learning about Nogi’s demise, illustrated the amount of their love for him as well as the unity of the Maram people.

Deputy Kilonser, Horyaola Nogi, the wife the departed officer, also expressed that her husband was a “strong-will man with integrity and principle” while his son Rangtaiba described him as a “hardworking person and a caring father.”

The message of NSCN/GPRN, Kilo Affairs was also read out at the service while Maj General (Rtd) Ramkathing Varah, Convenor PAC pointed out late Nogi demise “is not only a lost for the Maram people but for the Naga Nation as well.”

UNC General Secretary, S Milan said the Indian agency and machineries “should not provoke the Nagas when ceasefire and the Indo-Naga political talks is on, saying further, that Unity is the strength of the Nagas.”


President NPO, Solomon Arow;  Naga Women Union Manipur President Asha Wungnam; former Minister, Francis Ngajokpa and former Dy Speaker, K Raina; ANSAM President, Thiirtung Wanglar; SDSA President, Pung Mark and SDWA President, RN Hanah also shared messages on the occasion. 

As per the releases, various CSOs including Maram Thangal Council, Thangal Union, Maram Women Union, Maram Students' Union, NMPO, MBYSO ; different NSCN/GPRN regions including Wung Tangkhul Region, Maram-Thangal Region, Shepoumaramth Region; National Socialist Women's Organization of Nagalim ( NSWON); Haothrong Brigade; ranks and files of NSCN/GPRN conveyed condolences at the event. 

NSCN (IM) & MTR Executive Office condole 

Meanwhile the NSCM I (IM) and Office of the Executive officer of the MTR have expressed shock over the demise of Nogi and conveyed their condolences. 

“He served the Naga nation with steadfast patriotism until his demise. The bridge created by his passing away is deeply felt,” stated a condolence note issued by M Daniel Lotha) Kilo Kilonser, GPRN.

“For his selfless contribution to the Naga national cause, his name shall be archived in the pages of the Naga history and shall be remembered for all times to come,” added the noted addressed to late Nogi’s wife. 

 It further extended its condolences to his family and all his loved ones and prayed the Almighty to shower strength to the bereaved members to bear the loss.

The Secretary of MTR, Peter Kengoo Rangnamai, on behalf of the region also expressed anguish over the untimely demise in a condolence note addressed to Horyaola.

‘He was a man who served the Naga nation with humility, sincerity and dedication until his demise. He shall be deeply missed in the coming days and in the future,’ it said.   

‘His demise is a great loss for the MTR in particular and for the NSCN/GPRN and Nagalim in general,’ it noted, adding that late Nogi was a “Naga patriot whose name and whose deeds deserve to be documented in the pages of the Naga history to be cherished and be emulated by the fellow citizens.”

 “It is our prayers that our Almighty God will comfort his near and dear ones to overcome the grief,” it added.
