Dimapur, May 20 (MExN): The NSCN (IM), Phek Region, today extended its gratitude to the general public and the public leaders for the ‘constant co-operations, support and prayers’.
A press release received here from the Operation Commander of Ihoshe Battalion of the NSCN (IM), Captain Vedeta, while expressing gratitude to the public of Phek district, stated that the Naga Army of NSCN (IM) is ‘always ready to meet and interact with every one in good brotherhood spirits to share and contribute each ones opinion and suggestions for our national liberation’.
The release, nonetheless, warned the general public of adverse elements who may try to manipulate or exploit any situation, to vitiate the atmosphere and mislead the masses with wrong information and propaganda. “Any anti-social element/s who tries to bring disharmony or disturb the atmosphere will be sternly dealt with without reservation,” stated the release in this regard.
The release also slammed the news item under the caption ‘Phek public slam administration’ that appeared in some local dallies. In this regard, the release stated, “The Naga Army also clarifies to the misleading information and terms such publication as unethical journalism.” The release further stated that the information received ‘through telephone should not be the base of their authentic source of news information’. The release advised that the news item should be properly evaluated to deserve attention and its presentation analyzed to avert any negative representations.
The release stated that the ‘Naga Army’ (NSCN-IM), at no point of time, intended to harass or intimate the public o Phek district. The release instead pointed its finger at the NSCN (K) and the FGN cadres of being involved in extortion and causing untold hardship upon the public of Phek town and its neighbouring villages for the past many years and added that the ‘Naga Army’ entered into Phek Town after taking into account the ‘atrocities and misdemeanor’ committed upon the innocent public by the rival cadres and also in response to the peoples call to rescue them from the situation created by the NSCN (K) and FGN cadres. The release pointed out that the ‘Naga Army’ ‘in no way is against the will of the society but firmly stands to upkeep the people’s rights against anti-national/ social elements’.
The release further called upon the press fraternity to maintain ‘credible journalistic ethics and added that all new items should be screened by assessing its authenticity, respectability and implications and consequences that it may bear upon a society-people and positively project information in its correct perspective’.
