Dimapur | November 13
The NSCN (IM) has flatly dismissed the statement of the ULFA military spokesman Raju Baruah that surfaced in a local daily on November 13 in which he claimed that the place (Namsa Police colony, Nagaland) where the clash took place on November 11 is a dispute belt.
In a statement the NSCN (IM) has clarified that apart from other Naga areas there are more than 12 tea gardens in present Assam the managers of which have been giving annual tax to the Konyak Naga land owners like Japoka, Shanyu, Pongkong, etc till 1972. "We can dig out the cash receipt from the office of the Deputy Commissioner of Mon district of Nagaland even today," asserted the NSCN-IM.
The Naga outfit further stated that the Police Colony of Namsa, the place where the firing took place on November 11 is very much in the interior part of Nagaland. "The claim made by Mr. Baruah saying that the place is a disputed area and therefore every body has got right to dwell is very much an insult to the Nagas in general and the Konyak community especially of Tizit area in particular," said the NSCN-IM.
The outfit then stated that consequently, a person like late Achem "who used to be the guide for such party (Mr. Baruah and his men of ULFA on that very day) and for that matter any group which gives them safe-heaven is not only their forerunner but the wholesaler of his community and his nation".
"Therefore, any organization or village who stands to support such person without knowing his or their past activities and ill motive should try to identify the fact and refrain from such blind accusation on the NSCN/GPRN and its Shongshen Battalion without delay," advised the NSCN-IM while adding, "the NSCN/GPRN will stand to the end safeguarding, protecting and defending every Right of the Nagas which rightfully belongs to them".
