NSCN-IM rejoinder on Changki report

It is contrained to issue rejoinder to the news article titled, “NSCN (IM) on damaged control after CAA Aahza”, which appeared in the Nagaland Page dated, 26 March 2012.

This article is derogatory with an attempt to malign the Committee and to undermine its tireless efforts to bring an amicable resolution to the inter-clan dispute within the Changki village.

Entire Ao populations as well as the Nagas in general are well aware of what is happening within the Changki village. Things never heard of or seen before in the Ao community or perhaps the Nagas in general, has happened out of this inter-clan dispute in Changki village right in front of our eyes.

The turn of events that followed within the Changki village shocked the conscience of every rational human being. To the consternation of all a new form of ostracism, which was hitherto unheard of in Ao customary practices, were adopted and enforced within the Changki village.

A genuine attempt has been made by the Ao Baptist Churches (ABAM) to bring about an understanding through the Christian spirit of love and forgiveness but the contenting parties were not prepared to accommodate each other and church appeals went awry.

Also the Ao Senden, the highest platform of the Aos in social and customary matters, made concerted effort in order to bring about a settlement. Despite, the existences of the Ao Senden was challenged, to the dismay of all and hence its effort bear no fruits. The same goes with AKM, Watsu Mungdang, etc. etc.

Since then no group or individual were dare to mediate, anymore, in the Changki quagmire. It was the Changki villagers in their own individual capacities or in groups made bee-lines, one after another, to the authorities of NSCN/GPRN to entreat their intervention to bring about a settlement.

Consequently, the Joint Council set-up a Committee (Comprises only of Ao National workers) to bring about a settlement to the ongoing Changki inter-clan dispute. The Committee held a series of consultations with concerned individuals and groups and summoned all the contenting parties at Ao Region on 13 March, 2012 for preliminary hearing. To make matter worse, the Changki Ayim Asem out-rightly turned down to make any statement. The Committee took serious note of their assertion and therefore issued an interim order thereafter, dated 19 March 2012.

The writer of the article mentions of , “summoned the signatories of the Aahza to an undiscoled location to rein in the erring cadres” is ridiculous and a figment of his/her imagination. Also, the amicable resolution between Ao Senden and the Changki village is another cover-up to divert attention. The inter-clan dispute within the Changki village is still unresolved.

The Committee is unbiased and impartial and looks forward for an amicable settlement of the problem through the cooperation of all concerned in the spirit of accommodating one another in order to usher-in another peaceful coexistence and prosperity within the Changki village.
