Dimapur, June 20 (MExN): Reacting to an NSCN-K statement rejecting compensation for the 2003 arson in Mokokchung as well as opposition to ‘disintegration of Manipur,’ the NSCN-IM states “self-proclaimed and self-centered Nagas at the behest of enemies are at work once again to divide the Nagas.”
“Without doubt they have revealed their true agenda which the GPRN have been trying to make the Nagas understand that these people in the guise of national workers have hidden agendas to lure and hypnotize the Naga populace with false propagandas and concocted tales to garner their support” an MIP note stated. “At this hour of tribulation” Nagas from all corners should be firm in their political will and stand against attempts to disintegrate the Naga brethren, it stated.
The NSCN-IM note termed NSCN-K CFSB member Kughalu Mulatonu as a “frustrated man sans integrity” who in spite of advice from his superiors and colleagues “to refrain from classifying Naga brothers as Burmese or Manipur Nagas he digs into the issue to fulfill his own personal interest.” Taking note of his “vouching support to the United Committee of Manipur the Naga now contemplate over the position of Nagas of Burma, Assam and Arunachal.” The underlying question is if Nagas of Manipur should not be included in the Naga society and should be ‘slaves of the Meiteis then what would be the position of other Nagas from different regions.”
The NSCN-K leaders should understand that at no point of time, Nagas had been slaves, rather they have been masters of their own land, the NSCN-IM stated, adding that Nagas have committed to undo the “forced disintegration” of their land.
