NSCN (IM) Saramati Region appeals for peace between communities

Dimapur, October 13 (MExN): The NSCN (IM) Saramati Region has appealed to the Tikhir and Yimkhiung communities to maintain peace, harmony and mutual respect following a recent incident between the two communities.

In an appeal issued by C Süchu Jacob, Care-Taker/CAO of the Saramati Region, the organisation urged all concerned to exercise restraint and refrain from actions that could escalate the situation.

It said both communities shared a common history, deep-rooted cultural and social ties, and a longstanding spirit of brotherhood, adding that these bonds were more valuable than any disagreement or misunderstanding.

The appeal acknowledged that the past could not be undone but maintained that both communities could collectively choose the path of peace, understanding and reconciliation.

It also called on tribal bodies, community leaders, youth organisations, civil society groups and concerned citizens of both communities to promote dialogue, discourage rumours and provocation, and work towards an amicable resolution.

“The safety and well-being of our people must remain our foremost priority,” the appeal stated.

Emphasising the need to preserve the relationship between the two communities, it said differences should be resolved through mutual understanding and constructive dialogue rather than confrontation or violence.

The organisation urged both communities to uphold mutual respect and work towards a future founded on peace, dignity and harmony, expressing hope that their relationship would grow stronger for generations to come.
