
Dimapur, April 10 (MExN): Mhonsao Kikon, an NSCN (IM) Steering Executive Member from Kyong/Lotha Region passed away after a prolonged illness at Zion Hospital Dimapur on April 9. Born in 1942, he was popularly known as M. Kikon. He joined the Naga national movement at a young age under the banner of NNC and became the 3rd President of NNC (N/A) after the signing of Shillong Accord. He later joined NSCN in 2002 and held various posts till his last breath. Among others, he was the Convener, Political Affairs Committee (PAC) looking after the affairs of UT-I in 2008; Convener (Chief Justice) of National Judiciary Board (NJB) 2009-2010; Cabinet Kilonser of Mines & Mineral 2010-2012; and Steering Committee Member 2012-2017, MIP (IM) informed in a press note. It further said that a brief condolence service was held today at his residence at Ekhyo Yan Village (Domokhia), Dimapur. Among others, the service was attended by Qhevihe Chishi Swu, Collective Leadership Member; Rh. Raising, Kilo Kilonser; and Zarshie Nyuthe, Co-Convener Steering Committee besides hoards of senior NSCN functionaries such as Steering Committee members and Cabinet Kilonsers, it added. The condolence rite was conducted by Reverend Sekshim Kasar, General Secretary of Council of Nagalim Churches (CNC). The MIP further informed that the mortal remains of the departed leader will be taken to his native Baghty village, Wokha district for his last funeral rite.
