NSCN-IM version on Tizit shootout

Dimapur, November 12 (MExN): The NSCN-IM today sought to “make clear” the November 11 shootout with the ULFA in Tizit. In the ‘clarification’ the underground outfit’s MIP also justified its stand over the killing of a local student during the incident, that “no one can claim he is innocent.”

The MIP stated its version: Some ULFA cadres “pierced into our area” without informing the NSCN-IM “security personnel” though the ULFA cadres was very much aware of the situation in the area. In the shooting, one ULFA militant was killed while two fell in the custody in the police while another was captured by the NSCN-IM. The one who is in the NSCN-IM’s custody “can be” released any time but not as per the ultimatum (as surfaced in Assam papers) served by the Assam-based insurgent group.

In regard to the local student who was killed, the MIP maintained that “no one can claim that he is an innocent.” The MIP gave its version maintained that “as per account of the local people of that area he was seen and known to be with the ULFA many times in carrying out many past untoward ULFA’s missions.” The NSCN-IM also stated that he “could be” one of the informers “of the allied forces.”
