NSCN (IM) Wancho Region mourns demise of three workers killed in ‘fake encounters’

Hebron, July 16 (MExN): The Wancho Region of NSCN (IM) has expressed immense sorrow at the “untimely demise” of 3 Wancho national workers – Pangang Gangsa (Sergeant) on May 25, Tenwang Wangsa and Acham Wangsu (both Razou Peyus) on July 11 – in two separate incidents.

“The three unarmed national workers were arrested and later killed in fake encounters after giving third degree torture by the 16th Assam Rifles personnel under the command of Major KB Singh,” the Region alleged in a condolence message issued through the Ministry of Information and Publicity, NSCN (IM).

“The sentiment of the Wancho Region national workers are deeply hurt by the atrocities committed by the Indian Army through the Assam Rifles, and vehemently condemns the colonial act of human rights violation by the 16th Assam Rifles,” it added.

Despite such an “inhuman nature” of the Assam Rifles, the Region asserted, the Wancho national workers continue to uphold the principle of the ongoing peace process between the NSCN and Government of India.

“The Wancho Region of the GPRN salutes the martyred national workers who were men of standards. Their diligent services and sacrifices rendered for the cause of the Naga nation shall ever be cherished and honored by all the Wancho and Naga national workers,” the message read.

The Wancho Region also conveyed heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family members, relatives and friends and prayed to the Almighty God to give them solace during this time of sorrow.
