Dimapur, June 22 (MExN): No license or permit for exploration or exploitation of natural resources shall be valid “apart from the fact and common interest of the indigenous Nagas” the NSCN-IM states.
“The claim of the Naga people over what is under the ground, on the ground and above the ground, is indisputably total” stated a note from D Mero “secretary, forest, environment & minerals.” This is the basis for the Nagas’ right to self-determination, it asserted. However, this is also the reason blood is shed since the day the “lim” of the Nagas was first encroached, the NSCN-IM observed.
“Acknowledging ownership is first preceding acceptable, beneficial and honorable modalities in the event of exploration, exploitation or any form of operations throughout Nagalim; no Indian state’s guarantee, license, permit or any discriminatory exploration/exploitation shall be valid apart from the fact and common interest of the indigenous Nagas” it stated.
