Dimapur, August 24 (MExN): The NSCN-K has informed that it has absolved one of its functionaries in the “execution” of one “Lt.” Khumbeshi. In compliance with summons issued Yasangba, “Sangtam chairman” and Hutokhu, secretary of the Sangtam region appeared before the council on July 20, a note from the NSCN-K MIP stated. On interrogation the chairman stated that he did not give any direction or orders to eliminate “Lt.” Khumbeshi and that he had no hand in the execution. “Therefore, the council absolved him from the charges of the execution of Lt. Khumbeshi” stated the MIP. The note, however mentioned that the council has yet to ‘conclude’ the case “as some officials who were connected with the case have not yet turned up and gave their version of the circumstances under which Lieut. Khumbeshi was executed.”
