Dimapur, OCTOBER 31 (MExN): Accusing the NSCN (IM) of the routine affair of being elated by offers of any booty and subsequent admission of “criminals” into its fold, Deputy Kilonser, Defence of the NSCN (K) Akato Chophi said that the practice blotted the National cause.
The Deputy Kilonser pointed out to the recent case of Moses Sangtam, former PRO, USR, who is said to have defied revolutionary ethics and kidnapped one PMGSY contractor (Longkhim to Chare), David Angami of Tuophema Village for ransom. However, failing to realize the ransom due to the intervention of GPRN authorities, Akato said that Moses had seized the contractor’s Gypsy at gunpoint, and surrendered to the IK gang using the looted Gypsy as his ticket for admission to the NSCN (IM).
Rather than condemning or preventing such anti-criminal activities, Deputy Kilonser Akato said that NSCN (IM) were “very eager and accorded a warm reception to Moses Sangtam for having submitted the looted Gypsy”. In this relation, he said that “condoning and participating in such looting and kidnapping is nothing short of sheer criminalization of the Naga cause” for personal gains adding that any sane or conscientious struggling groups would rather punish the culprit and address the grievance
