DIMAPUR, AUGUST 14 (MExN): NSCN-K (Khango) celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day at Council Headquarters, Thamsao Designated Camp on August 14.
A press release from the MIP stated that on the occasion, NSCN-K (Khango) President, Lieut Gen (Retd) Khango Konyak, hoisted the Naga National flag which was followed by a military salutation. Obituary moment was also observed with silent prayer for the departed souls of national workers. Ato Kilonser, Hokato Vusshe dwelled and spoke at length upon the contemporary political issues affecting the Naga people and asserted that the political dialogue with GoI would be initiated soon, to resolve the Naga political issue. “It is very unfortunate that some misguided Nagas are trying to suppress the NSCN, however, the NSCN will not succumb to any decisive forces or play to but will defend the integrity and the underlying principle of the NSCN at all cost,” Vusshe stated. The Ato Kilonser also briefed the gathering about the various historical accounts and the prevailing issue of the Naga national movement.
A special song was presented by women folk of Tamkoang Village. The programme was also enchanted by presenting a folk dance by Yongkhao Cultural troupe. The programme concluded with a prayer from AS Nyahli Kilonser, Religious Affairs.
The NSCN-K (Khango) also celebrated the 78th Naga Independence Day at its CFSB Office. Chaplee Kilonser hoisted the Naga National flag on the occasion. The Presidential speech was also read out on the occasion, the press release informed.
