Dimapur, July 4 (MExN): The NSCN (K) has expressed pain at the sudden demise of the Vice-Chairman of United National Liberation Front (UNLF), A Wangpa on June 28. It shared the bereavement equally with the UNLF “comrades” and families of the demised leader.
“While mourning the departure, the NSCN is honoured and privileged to have shared the platform with a veteran leader who maintained a very special bond and confidential relationship with the Nagas and NSCN leadership in particular,” stated a condolence message from MIP, NSCN (K).
It mentioned that Wangpa joined UNLF in 1975 and had been closely associated with the NSCN both personally and officially since the early formative years especially when NSCN had initially been struggling to establish bases in the Eastern Nagaland.
“Through thick and thin, in every situations and predicaments he stood with us and also played a key role in promoting strategic partnerships and unity among the revolutionaries of the region and in the formation of Indo-Burma Revolutionary Front (IBRF) alongside our late President SS Khaplang,” the note acknowledged.
Losing a “pioneering and a visionary leader” like Wangpa “during these challenging times”, it added, “is a big jolt not only to UNLF but the entire fraternity; he is irreplaceable and the void will always be there but the exemplary dedication and his exceptional commitment to the cause shall always be an inspiration to all of us.”
