NSCN-K pressed to terminate region secy

Dimapur, October 19 (MExN): A demand is made to the NSCN-K to terminate the outfit’s ‘secretary” of Tisary region, following the diktat issued by him against the president of Yimchungru Tribal Council. VCCs, GBs and VDB secretaries of Pungro sub-division met on October 16 at Pungro town to discuss the matter where a clarification from the faction’s Tisary region in a local daily was also discussed.

The meeting demanded that the NSCN-K terminate R Kiusangthong, the “secretary” of Tisary region in the greater interest of the people. This should be made known through the media at the earliest, a statement from the Pungro traditional institutions demanded. If the underground faction fails to meet this demand, the Yimchungru tribe would withdraw all cooperation with the outfit. Further, the tribe will not “cooperate” with any organization that ‘accepts’ the service of R Kiusangthong, it warned.

Responding to the NSCN-K Tisary region, the meeting took note of Kiusangthong’s assertion that “Pungro area consists of Makory, Chirr, Tikhir, and Longpfur and there is no Yimchungru present in the area.” The meeting slammed this claim as a ‘hoax proclamation “since all these conglomerates into a Yimchunger tribe.”

YTC president Thsesong Yimchungru, by virtue of being from the Yimchungru community, has every right to become the president of the YTC; his leadership takes place owing to the mandate of the people and the community cannot accept any element forcing him to resign, the meeting took note. “The claim made by the president that Pungro area is inhabited by the Yimchungru is an undeniable truth and he has every right to speak out this truth so long as he remains the president of YTC” the meeting’s statement reminded and termed the refutation as “anti-social.”  The president of YTC is saluted for his “tremendous effort in carving the broken society in the subdivision as deliberated in the meeting.”

The meeting also discussed matters relating to the statement that the Yimchungru region deducted “house-tax” and 24% from “the department” at gunpoint. The statement termed this as a totally false statement adding that “there are no such deductions at gunpoint in the subdivision…”
