NSCN-K questions Isak’s position in rival faction

Dimapur, Jan 10 (MExN): The recent developments in Nagaland surrounding the NSCN-IM’s top two chiefs’ visit are a reflection of the hierarchical contradiction and insolence in the organization, amply expressed by the dominance of General Secretary Th. Muivah over his “superior” Chairman Isak Chishi Swu, says the NSCN-K

When Muivah arrived in Delhi to review his Visa, a ‘superficial atmosphere’ was generated as such that his visit carried a semblance of ‘significant political prominence through manipulation of media’, where, as a mater of fact, his “forced visit was out of compulsion and desperation and it has nothing to do with Indo-Naga peace process”, says Akato Chophi, ‘Supervisor of UT-1’ of the rival faction.  Prime Minister Manmohan Singh would not have denied appointment if Muivah had been to Delhi on a political mission, he observed.

Stating that despite such ‘humiliation and political setback’, a grand reception was organized for Muivah at New Delhi and Dimapur, the Supervisor opined that Isak is “merely a pawn at Muivah’s command, every thing said, done, weighed and measured as to his helpless position.”

When “subordinate” Muivah was befittingly welcomed with pomp and wide media coverage, why Isak, queried the rival, although a “superior and senior,” was sent home as “a thief” with not a single Naga made aware of his homecoming except few top officials of the NSCN-IM. “Why was Isak not accorded a single privilege to interact with the media and the Nagas in connection to Indo-Naga political situation, when he is the Chairman and the head of his organization but was made to slip into Nagaland under the cover of darkness? Is Isak afraid to face the Nagas because he has nothing to offer since he has all along been forcibly detached from the issue or was he forced by Muivah and coterie to refrain from commenting on the issue for fear that Isak may spill the truth of conspiracies at work to betray the Nagas?” the NSCN-K queried.

It mentioned that in1999, Akato and Hekiye “the then undersecretary and presently Parliamentary Secretary” were deputed to shield (NSCN-IM Vice President Khadao Yathan) with a strict directive that no media should be allowed to interact with Khadao “since he is not aware of anything and would contradict our policies”.

“Is this National or Tribal politics? How many Naga workers and leaders have been involved in the secret dialogues between IK and GOI? How could people’s movement be represented by selected few from one single non-Naga community when Naga nation is composed of more than 30, 40 tribes with distinct characters, interests and issues?” the Supervisor queried more and advised that Swu should also resign and ‘repent, if he desires to come back to Naga family.’ It also took note that Muivah’s reception images in the local dailies are “highly abominable”, with him being accompanied by Major.Ashang Tangkhul, “prime accused in the assassination bid on Dr.Moangwati”.

Meanwhile, the NSCN-K welcomes ‘lost sons returning home’ namely Hokuto Awomi, former Raju Peyu and Neon (Vikuto) former Khapur in the NSCN-IM. It welcomes the two warmly for “…their joining national mainstream at this crucial point of time where the Nagas are struggling not only against foreign aggressors but dissident forces from within”.
