NSCN-K ready to meet any ‘factional leaders’

Dimapur, Nov 1 (MExN): The NSCN-K desires to meet any ‘factional leaders’ with an open mind so that factional interests are turned into national interests’ and for the reason that the issues are not for factional feud and killing amongst the Naga brethren but a common aspiration i.e., sovereignty. It reminded that all the factions are the instruments of the Nagas to realize common aspirations and as such all factional interests or ‘selfish interests’ should be set aside.

“Let us change even our tune of prayer from factional interest to the national interest. I want to meet any Naga factional leaders with open mind because our issue is not for factional feud and killing of our own brothers but to stand together to achieve long cherished goal i.e., sovereignty” stated Y Wangtin Naga, Deputy Kilonser of Kilo Affairs of the NSCN-K in a statement. He felt that all the Naga factions are political instruments of the Naga people “that one day it will become one”. “I feel all the factions are Nagas’ political tools that one day it will become one because we cannot divide ourselves merely on factional lines. Our main issue is the sovereignty of the Naga nation.

Therefore, I reject any form of political talks without unification among the Nagas” he affirmed while adding that the NSCN-IM leaders lack “wider scope”. “Leaving any of our brothers behind us after solution will be a great problem that will shake the entire political structure” he cautioned. Wangtin maintained that this makes him a critic of the NSCN-IM for which they (NSCN-IM) ‘should make a compromise’. “I pray and request all the Naga leaders to think for the Nagas leaving aside our selfish interest. My service to the nation belongs to the Nagas and I don’t have factional interest so also everyone should reciprocate with similar thinking and understanding” the Deputy Kilonser appealed.

According to Wangtin, the problem of factionalism is an artificial ‘phenomenon’ and “therefore I take it very lightly”. “However aggressive and emotional characteristics our leaders may possess, they serve the nation for the last forty to fifty years or above which deserves appreciation” Wangtin lauded. However, there will come a time that they be replaced. “Now our days are coming to replace them. We need not think of factionalism or partism, but to think for the Nagas and their nation by abandoning our leaders’ footprints and their stands, if we find them to be a stumbling block for our understanding” he stated.
