Dimapur, Dec 29 (MExN): NSCN-K Lotha Region is “very thankful to God” for ‘relieving’ the organization of two of its cadres who defected to the NSCN-IM recently. According to C Lotha, ‘Caretaker’, Lotha Region of the NSCN-K, the two cadres Longtsuo Shitiri and Rabeth Ovung were the ‘best cadres ever produced by the NSCN’ and they defected to the rival faction with the ‘best ever weapons manufactured in the world’.
According to a note from the ‘Caretaker’, Ovung of Hankvu village was in the Indian Army earning a ‘handsome salary’ but deserted his unit to join the NSCN-K earlier which reluctantly accepted him.
Shitiri, on the other hand, was a ‘dog meat dealer in Wokha’ who could not meet the expenses of his family and so joined the organization with the ‘hope that by becoming an NSCN cadre’ he would be able to extort money in the name of taxation especially in his own native area, Lio-Logidang.
He also had an eye to pay for his children’s education and open a shop in Wokha for his wife.
“The NSCN/GPRN never ever wants any of such people in the NSCN’s fold. Therefore, by the defection of these two men, Lotha region, NSCN have been relieved to a great extend and for this we are very thankful to God” the note added.
