The National Socialist Council of Nagaland (Khaplang) has demanded Rs 50 lakh from industries and commerce minister Khekiho Zhimomi and warned him of dire consequences if he fails to pay by January 20. Kughalu Mulatonu, finance kilonser (minister) of the outfit, accused Zhimomi of allegedly pocketing this amount, which was deducted from the subsidy of The Integrated Child Development Programme (ICDP) as five per cent taxation in 2006. The outfit has warned that failure to heed their warning would not bode well for him and his family.
The Khaplang group has also accused the minister of giving away Rs 50 lakh deducted from the ICDP fund to its rival faction, the National Socialist Council of Nagalim (I-M) last November. “From more than Rs 10 crore, Khekiho has deducted 20 per cent from every beneficiary — 10 per cent for the NSCN (I-M) and another 10 per cent for himself and Nagaland chief minister Neiphiu Rio,” Mulatonu alleged. The NSCN (K) said it would not tolerate such “criminals” whose objective is to destroy the Naga society and the NSCN (K).
