NSCN-K (YA) and ULFA (I) calls for boycott of R-Day celebration

DIMAPUR, JANUARY 20 (MExN): The Yung Aung-led NSCN (K) and the ULFA (Independent) have called for a joint boycott and a general strike of the 74th Republic Day celebration.

“The NSCN/GPRN and the ULFA (I) are fully alive in our stand and responsibilities. The joint struggle for restoration of our sovereignty to the Nagas and Asom people is our legitimate resistance and their endurance, suffering, sacrifices and hope for freedom will never be in vain,” a press statement received from MIP in-charge of Yung Aung-led NSCN (K), Col Retd Joseph stated.

To achieve this dream we will by any means continue the resistance and fulfill our commitment. We will not beg for our rights, but we will fight for them, it added.

The MIP press statement said the total ban will be effective in the “so-called states of Assam, Manipur, Nagaland and Arunachal Pradesh.”
