NSCN leader clarifies on threat to IAS officer

Dimapur, July 10 (MExN): In response to  recent allegations of threat against a senior IAS officer Additional Chief Secretary Banuo Z Jamir heading the School Education department, the NSCN official has clarified on what he described as “to dispel contentions or misconceptions in this regard”. “Lt. col. (retd.)” Kiyekhu Awomi, member, of the National Political Advisory Council (NPAC), NSCN, has in a clarification  stated that at no point of time did he threaten or had any such intent upon anyone in relation to the recent employment scam that  surfaced in the Education Directorate over appointment of ‘bogus teachers.’ “Taking into account the interests and welfare of the general educated unemployed as well as the educated employed teachers, I conveyed suggestions to the Secretary, Education to take disciplinary action upon the errant officials of the government instead of victimizing the innocent educated unemployed, so that there is no discrimination upon the innocent”, the NSCN official asserted.

“The fact being, in the first place, if officials of the concerned departments did not nurture illegal ways for their selfish gains, no such appointments would have existed”, the clarification note maintained. There prevails many unprivileged educated unemployed youths today who do not have political backing or the money to get employment, he  said. “This fact cannot be denied, for many educated unemployed while pursuing jobs through examinations of merit have become victims of overage, due to the backdoor appointments harbored by officials in most departments”.

Further, to curb the bogus appointments, the practice of back door appointments has to be stopped within concerned government departments; the note suggested pointing out that innocent teachers without political backing and fearing overage, due to the existent corruption in government offices have sacrificed by selling their properties to seek employment. “As these teachers were left with no other options of a job, had sought employment through sources available. Therefore, these innocent victims should not be persecuted for the prevailing corruption in the government machinery”, the note stated.

The NSCN official also pointed out that unless the erring officials are investigated and punished, and the loopholes mended, the rights of the educated unemployed would continue to be hijacked and the youths compelled to buy jobs or go unemployed in the coming future as well. “Hence, while conveying my appeal to the concerned without ill-intentions, if it has provoked anyone’s perceptions in the negative aspect in any way, then, I hereby withdraw my suggestions”, stated the NSCN official Lt. Col. (Retd.) KIYEKHU AWOMI. Member, NPAC, GPRN.
