KOHIMA, March 10 (MExN): One NSCN (R) cadre was apprehended by the Changlang Battalion of the Assam Rifles during an operation in Jungmaisung on March 10.
A Press Information Bureau (Defence) release identified the cadre as Private Wangdi Tailong. A Pistol and live ammunition was recovered from his possession, the release stated.
In a separate operation, the Khonsa battalion of the Assam Rifles busted a hideout of NSCN (K) in Nogna village on March 10 afternoon. No details of arrest or recovery of arms were made in the release.
According to the PIB, both operations were based on “specific intelligence” about presence of cadres trying to “terrorize and attempting forced extortion”.
