Dimapur July 20 (MExN): Responding to the Chakhesang Public Organization (CPO), the NSCN Steering Committee asserted that the infallibility and legitimacy of NNC, “is nothing but a desperate attempt to justify the infamous Shillong Accord, which had already been condemned and thrown into the dustbin of history by the Naga National Assembly thirty one years ago”.
Kedutsu Tsuzu, member, Steering Committee in a rejoinder stated “They said the accord was signed by the Representatives of the underground organizations, not by NNC. But they forgot to make mention of the real story that the Representatives were authorized by NNC and Federal Government of Nagaland. The term ‘organizations’ are none other then NNC and FGN. They argued, that the Accord was signed under duress while the paper of the agreement clearly states that ‘the Representatives ... of their own volition accept the constitution of India without any condition’”.
Tsuzu contended that if the accord was signed under duress, then “they had many reasons to disown or condemn it afterward, which they had never done.” “On the contrary, they not only spoke against those national leaders who condemned the Shillong Accord, but also incited and engineered the military coup of 1978 where about a hundred national workers who were loyal to the cause were killed and all the top leaders including Isak and Muivah were arrested only to be executed so that the Accord is implemented smoothly” Tsuzu stated. He contended that the NNC/FGN to effectively implement the Accord, an armed wing, People’s Militia of Nagaland (PMN) was formed “who operated with the enemy against NSCN for a decade; the whole world is witnessing how they have been living in the Peace Transit camp comfortably and willingly for thirty-one years now.”
“Are all these signs of accepting Indian constitution under duress? Let the people judge it. They love ceaseless talking of the plebiscite as the principle of NNC. But who betrayed plebiscite? NNC or NSCN? Don’t they understand that the Shillong Accord is the anti-thesis of the plebiscite?” he questioned adding that they had accepted the Indian constitution, which the Naga people had rejected 25 years back.
“It is ridiculous that people who had bowed down to worship the statue of Indian constitution are now shouting for total sovereignty on the rooftop of transit camp. Idolizing ‘NNC’ is abominable to the Lord and a false preaching to the people. We too agree that NNC was the authentic political organization of the Naga people till the signing of the Accord” Tsuzu asserted.
“The CPO is a part of the Naga fourth consultative meeting held at Hebron sometime in 2005. They were also a party to the decision taken in support of peace process and the collective leadership of NSCN but they went back upon their word. Such act of double standard of CPO leadership has confused and misled the innocent people at the bottom” the member stated adding that now that seeds of dissension have been sown among the Chakhesangs for which “they will be held responsible for any untoward incident and event leading to fighting and killing in the region in future.”
