Mon, March 5 (MExN): The Konyak Region of NSCN/GPRN (Khango) has banned the transportation and sale of drugs, alcohol, and any other illegal substances within its jurisdiction.
A press release from Lieutenant Colonel Nyemam Konyak, Chairman of the NSCN/GPRN (Khango) Konyak Region, stated that the ban was imposed “taking into account the menace caused by it in society.”
Accordingly, people involved in illegal activities or businesses were directed to cease their activities with immediate effect.
The NSCN/GPRN (Khango) Konyak Region further called for the closure of shops within its region on Sundays, stating that it is “against Christian principles to work on Sundays.”
It also cautioned against the misappropriation of funds meant for public welfare to ensure that all people in its region receive their fair share of development and entitlements.
“As such, any individual or group found in violation of this order shall face stern action,” it added.
