NSCN/GPRN (R) calls for peace amid tensions in Manipur region

Dimapur, May 22 (MExN): NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) on May 22 expressed concern over the prevailing situation in “southern Nagaland” and condemned the alleged kidnapping, disappearance and hostage-taking of Naga civilians.

In a statement issued by its Ministry of Information and Publicity (MIP), the organisation said forcible abduction and holding civilians hostage were acts “against humanity”.

The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) also asserted that “distortion of facts” would not alter history and claimed that ancestral Naga lands belonged to the Nagas.

It further stated that Nagas remained united irrespective of their location and would defend their “historical and political rights”.
The organisation warned that any threat to a Naga tribe would be viewed as a challenge to all Nagas and would be met with resistance if tested.

At the same time, the group expressed hope that Kuki leaders would choose peace and harmony over violence, saying continued violence would not benefit either community.
