NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) expels 3

Says group is intact and in support of Yung Aung

DIMAPUR, APRIL 12 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung)’s Commander in Chief today clarified that the press declaration made by Major General Langnyie on April 11 of the group’s Naga Army officers withdrawing support from its president are “false allegations and propaganda.”

This was stated in a press release issued by the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) Commander in Chief, General Th Kumchok and Deputy Commander in Chief, Lt General Thumching.

“It was very unfortunate and irresponsible on the part of Maj Gen Langnyei to defame our names by including us in the conspiracy against the President which is absolutely of his own making and has no legal sense whatsoever. His defamatory statement is a part of a well-prepared conspiracy to create division among the NSCN/GPRN national workers and to bring bad light to the leadership of Yung Aung in the eye of the Naga people,” the press release stated.

“As Commander-in-Chief and Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Naga Army, we declare and denounce the so-called Naga Army meeting on April 8, 2023 at General Headquarters area illegal and unconstitutional and do not represent the opinion of the Naga army,” it added.

It assured that the “whole Naga army is fully intact and will continue to serve the Naga people under the leadership of President Yung Aung and we will stand by whatever decision taken by the government on this issue.”

Meanwhile, another press release from the MIP of the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) informed that it held an emergency party meeting and took a “unanimous decision” to expel three of its members for their “active anti-government activities” with effect from April 12.

The expelled members are Nyeiton, Home Kilonser; Major General Langnyei, GSO-I, Naga Army; and Khampei Opeiham, Chairman, Konyak Region.

The MIP termed it sad that “at this crucial juncture of the Naga struggle, these members have failed to stand by the Revolutionary ethics and Principles of the NSCN/GPRN.” “As leaders with prominent positions within the government, their personal contribution and dedication towards the national cause remained doubtful and unsatisfactory. Their indifferent attitude towards the new transformation policies and their continuous attempt to propagate against the party leadership is not at all encouraging,” it added.

It accused the three expelled members of challenging the authority of the NSCN/GPRN by organising “illegal meetings at GHQ area and spreading wild propaganda whereby creating huge confusion and mistrust among the national workers.”

The MIP release stated that the allegations against the President, Yung Aung are “totally baseless and is out rightly rejected by all NSCN Party members including Gen Kumchok, Commander-in-Chief and Lt Gen Thumching, Deputy Commander-in-Chief of the Naga Army, who themselves are also present in the emergency meeting.”

It meanwhile claimed that “Nyeiton and Maj Gen Langnyei, despite their long national career, have fallen into the deceptive trap of the Indian intelligence and some pro-India Naga civil societies who utilised them to fulfill anti-Naga agendas.”

It further alleged that “due to their weakness for quick money, they have become an easy target for predators like Khampei, who plays an active role in this conspiracy.”

The NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) meanwhile claimed that it is “aware of their involvement in the multi-crore Nagaland State election scheme which is against the party principles.” It further claimed knowledge about a“huge sum of money given to them by the Indian intelligence recently.”

Terming the current development at GHQ area as a “long pre-plan game” of “India's never ending brutal policies to divide the Nagas and annihilate our struggle for independence,” the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) said that “since the beginning of the Naga freedom struggle, due to those policies — corruption and greed for power on the part of few tainted national workers has often defiled the revered people's struggle.”

Further, the MIP release stated that during the emergency meeting, all the Council of Kilonsers, CCMs, Regional authorities and the Naga army units led by its Commander-in-Chief and Deputy Commander-in-Chief “declared their unanimous loyalty to the leadership of Yung Aung and to defend the Naga National struggle at all cost.”

It further directed the three expelled members to “submit all the government properties currently in their disposal.”
