DIMAPUR, APRIL 13 (MExN): Home Kilonser of the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung), Nyeiton Konyak today issued a clarification to the press statement issued by the MIP of the NSCN/GPRN (Yung Aung) on April 12 wherein the latter informed of the expulsion of 3 of its members for “anti government activities.”
The Home Kilonser’s statement clarified that he and A Khampei Opeiham, Konyak Region Chairman did not partake in the meeting of the Naga Army conducted on April 8, claiming that “it was conducted in their absence.”
“The meeting could not be stopped as the gathering and discussion of the Naga Army was rightfully conducted regardless of the matter discussed. It is also to be understood that the conduct and functioning of the President Yung Aung has been doubtful and unacceptable to the people and the Naga Army for a long time. Thus the uprising is justified in its own term. However, it was done without the duo's consent,” he stated.
Concerning the involvement in the Nagaland Legislative Assembly Election, Nyeiton Konyak said that the “duo casted their own votes as they have their inalienable rights to vote and no illegal act was carried upon by them.”
He further stated that the disqualification from the membership of the NSCN/GPRN of the duo by the President “stands unaccepted, thus Null and void as the duo has done nothing against the government nor against the Naga people in their long years of service.”
With regard to the meeting with the civil societies of Naga Inhabited Areas, Nyeiton Konyak said that it was necessary to do so, “since the President, Yung Aung during his five years of leadership has made no attempt to live in peaceful coexistence with the Naga people whom they represent.”
He stated that the history of the Nagas and the Naga Army has never been confusing. “It has always stood for the People and the People's Government. The much respected leaders of the past and present of the Naga Army regardless of the factions has stood for the cause of the people. Following the footsteps of our dear leaders the duo takes this stand to work and lead the people's army till the end. To work hand in hand under the leadership of president Yung Aung and no disqualification issued whatsoever shall affect their desire to work for the nation,” he added.
He further stated that the “corruption and conspiracy charges against them stands with no solid ground and thus any such accusations remain unaccepted.”
