NSCN(R) celebrates 72nd Naga I-Day

Dimapur, August 16 (MExN): The NSCN/GPRN (Reformation) celebrated the 72nd Naga Independence Day on August 14, with the Vice-President, Akato Chophi as the chief guest.  

A press release issued by MIP NSCN/GPRN (R) stated that the chief guest in his speech said that ‘Naga Unity’ was a pre-requisite towards the goal for the Political Solution and called upon the Naga People to work hand in hand in oneness and in solidarity.  

The MIP mentioned that the chief guest was “donned in different (multi/mixed) Naga Traditional Attires' as an example that no matter what tribe we may belong to, at the end of the day we were all the same ‘One Naga family’ and called upon the people to stay united so that our Naga Family may be a ‘Mighty fortress’ that is formidable and impenetrable by any act of aggression from external forces and adversaries.”  

The programme was given an ebullient and exuberant touch with Aloke Yepthomi winner of ‘You know you got it’ belting out the song ‘Imagine’. The ‘Hornbill Cultural Club’ of Lengrijan also enthralled for those in attendance with their ‘Cultural show.’  

The programme was compered by Additional Secretary Akheli Yepthomi and Joint Secretary Toshi. The invocation was pronounced by Kilonser followed by ‘Oath of Allegiance’ to newly inducted Tatars and Dy.Kilonsers which was administers by the Speaker, Iheshe Aye. A short speech was delivered by Inno Panmei, Advisor to the Collective Leadership. 'Vote of Thanks' was said by Viniho Kiho, Kilonser, and benediction by Newell Achumi, Kilonser respectively.
