Chümoukedima, June 4 (MExN): The Nagaland State Commission for Women (NSWC) led by its Chairperson, W Nginyeih Konyake has expressed its profound outrage and unequivocal condemnation of the heinous and brutal murder of a mother of four by her own husband on May 31 at 4th Mile, Chümoukedima.
The commission in its condemnation note said, “The savage nature of this crime is a stark reminder of the pervasive issue of domestic violence that continues to plague our society. It is imperative not to allow this kind of atrocity to be dismissed as an isolated incident but rather recognise it as part of a broader, systemic problem that demands urgent and comprehensive action.”
Therefore, the NSCW has urged all relevant stakeholders, including Government bodies, law enforcement agencies and community organisations to intensify their efforts in combating Domestic Violence in all forms, so that similar barbarity does not occur again.
The NSCW has also demanded that the competent authorities must ensure that the perpetrator is brought to justice with the full force of the Law, serving as a deterrent to others who may perpetrate similar acts of violence. It also call upon all responsible entities to act decisively and with urgency so that Justice be served to the victim at the earliest possible time.
