
KOHIMA, May 26 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA), Home Department, has issued a weather update predicting heavy rainfall across all districts of the state from May 27 to June 3. According to the NSDMA, Shamator district is expected to receive very heavy rainfall on May 27 and 28. The remaining districts are forecasted to experience very heavy rainfall from June 1 to 3.
The rainfall may be accompanied by lightning and thunderstorms in isolated places. The advisory warns of potential disruptions to communication and connectivity due to high-speed winds and advises necessary precautions to avoid lightning strikes. It also highlights the risk of high precipitation in the hills sector, which could result in waterlogging and flash floods in lowland and foothill districts including Dimapur, Niuland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli.
The NSDMA has urged the public to exercise caution and avoid any eventualities during this period. All District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments have been requested to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
