NSDMA forecasts more heavy rains in Nagaland till August 25

Kohima, August 19 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) has issued a weather alert for the coming days, forecasting heavy rainfall and thunderstorms across the state.

From now until August 25, Nagaland is expected to experience cloudy conditions with significant rainfall in most districts. Thunderstorms and lightning are also anticipated at isolated locations. The districts most likely to see intense rainfall include Kohima, Tuensang, Mokokchung, Mon, Kiphire, Zunheboto, Phek, and Peren.

The NSDMA warned that these conditions may lead to disruptions in communication and connectivity due to potential gale winds and lightning strikes. Additionally, excessive precipitation in the hill sector could result in water logging and flash floods in the lowland and foothill regions, such as Dimapur, Nuiland, Chumukedima, Bhandari, Pangti, Tizit, and Tuli.

In response, the NSDMA has urged the public to remain cautious and take necessary precautions to avoid any accidents or damage. The Home Department has also advised all District Disaster Management Authorities and relevant departments to remain vigilant and prepared to address any emergencies.
