NSDMA forecasts rainfall across Nagaland till April 24

Kohima, April 17 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) today informed that almost all districts in the State are likely to experience light rainfall and moderately cloudy conditions until April 24.

These showers may be accompanied by thunderstorms and lightning at isolated locations, according to a weather update issued by the NSDMA on Thursday.

Tuensang district may experience heavy rainfall on April 20 and 21, it added.

Accordingly, the NSDMA has advised taking necessary precautions to avoid lightning strikes and strong winds, which may disrupt communication and connectivity.

Meanwhile, the NSDMA noted that due to the risk of heavy precipitation in the hill sectors, the State’s lowland and foothill districts—including Dimapur, Nuiland, Chümoukedima, Bhandari, Baghty, Tizit, and Tuli—are vulnerable to waterlogging and flash floods.

Accordingly, it urged the public to exercise caution to prevent any eventualities during this period.

The NSDMA, Home Department, also requested all District Disaster Management Authorities and other line departments to remain on high alert to safeguard lives and property during the monsoon season.
