ADC Kohima gives detailed report on Dzükou fire

Kohima, January 15 (MExN): Days after the Dzükou Valley fire was brought under control, various agencies involved in the weeks-long fire fighting operation in the valley area were felicitated on January 15.

Organized by the Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) and District Disaster Management Authority Kohima (DDMA), the felicitation programme held in DPDB’s Conference Hall Kohima recognized the efforts and services rendered by various agencies, organizations and volunteers.

According to a DIPR update, a detailed report on the Dzükou forest fire, which broke out on December 29 and de-induction of the Dzükou fire operation team was also given by ADC Kohima, Lithrongla Tongpi Rutsa. Details of the ADC’s report, however, were not included in the DIPR update.

Home Commissioner and CEO, NSDMA Nagaland, Abhijit Sinha congratulated and thanked all the organizations and agencies for their services rendered towards the fire-fighting efforts in Dzükou Valley, Kohima. He appreciated the way the disaster w as handled by various agencies and further encouraged them to continue with the same efforts and to utilize the gained experiences in future.

The Home Commissioner along with Advisors Dr Nicky Kire and Medo Yhokha gave away the Certificate of Appreciation to various agencies for providing crucial logistic support in the fire-fighting efforts in Dzükou Valley, Kohima. The awardees included Indian Air Force, DEF Kohima, Home Guards and Civil Defence, SDRF, NDRF, 4th NAP, Assam Rifles, Police Wireless, 1st Assam Rifles, 164 TA, Medical Department, DPRO, DDMA, Fire and Emergency Services, SAPO, SAYO, Forest Department and PWD R&B (South Division).

Advisor Dr Nicky also expressed his appreciation to all the organizations, departments who had taken part in containment of Dzükou fire and encouraged them to continue with the good work in days to come.

Advisor, Medo Yhokha also thanked all agencies for their efforts towards the containment of Dzükou fire and further assured that the community will continue to preserve the area in the future.

Deputy Commissioner, Kohima, Mohammed Ali Shihab A who chaired the felicitation programme also thanked all the concerned departments and agencies for their joint efforts and assistance towards the Dzükou fire fighting operation.
