DIMAPUR, MARCH 21 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) today issued an advisory to local tourist trekkers and tourist trekkers from outside the state to avail the help of local guides while undertaking trekking in the Naga Hill terrains.
“This will enable trekkers in the right direction safely,” the NSDMA stated. It further advised that while trekking, trekkers should remember to take along life safety kits such as sufficient dry food, emergency light, emergency first aid kit and warm trekking suits which will stand in the good stead during exigencies. Further in case of any emergency, one may call the NSDMA toll free helpline number 1070 for immediate relief.
The NSDMA meanwhile expressed gratitude to the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA) Kohima, State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) HG & CD, Kohima, 3rd Assam Rifles, 164 Naga TA Bn (Home and Hearth) and Manipur Police for their efforts during the search operation on the night of March 18 at Dzükou Valley. Due to the selfless and dedicated personnel the stranded tourist trekkers had been brought back safely, it said.
In times of distress and in the event of disaster, NSDMA stated, every stakeholder's contribution is crucial and vital. “The convergence of efforts and the coordination during the operation shown by the DDMA Kohima, SDRF HG & CD, Kohima, 3rd Assam Rifles, 164 Naga TA Bn (Home and Hearth) and Manipur Police is applaudable and worthy of deep appreciation,” it added.
