DIMAPUR, AUGUST 2 (MExN): The Nagaland State Disaster Management Authority (NSDMA) today advised government departments responsible for roads and other infrastructure and the public to take precautionary measures in lieu of projected rainfall over the next week.
A press note from the NSDMA stated that after witnessing on and off rains, Nagaland will receive varied intensity of rainfall through the week. The rainfall activity on August 2 and 3 in Nagaland will see moderate to heavy rains lashing the State across the 11 districts. Thereafter, from August 4 onward, the rainfall will be light to moderate in nature. However, cloudy to overcast sky conditions will remain a highlight across the State.
It was also informed that between August 4 and 7, rain intensity will be less as a depression is likely to form in the Bay of Bengal, which will be responsible for pulling the moisture. After August 7, the atmospheric system will move inland and away from the region and the rains will once again pick up the pace over the State of Nagaland. Therefore, the NSDMA stated that between August 8 and 11, heavy rains are likely in many parts of the State. During this time, the southern districts will see more Monsoon rains than the northern parts.
