Dimapur, July 3 (MExN): The Naga Students Federation (NSF) has termed as ‘amusing’ the response of Parliamentary Secretary of Industry & Commerce who reacted after the students raised demands for his immediate removal. The NSF is demanding the legislator’s removal for his reported lobbying in favor of some individuals accused in the NPSC answer-script swapping scam.
The NSF stated that the federation was forced to issue this statement for ‘public consumption’ demanding his removal from the present ministry and also for serving punishment to those government servants ‘whose son and daughters were involved in the recent fiasco with regard to the NPSC examination conducted in the year 2008’.
The NSF response, appended by NSF president Mutsikhoyo Yhobu and general secretary O. Wati Jamir, termed as amusing the press statement of the parliamentary secretary. The NSF remarked that the legislator tried to vindicate his status ‘in a very diplomatic way’.
The NSF appreciated the parliamentary secretary’s endorsing the intervention of the NSF into the NPSC issue.
However, the apex students’ body reminded that on June 10, 2009 when the federation submitted an ultimatum to the chief minister, it was categorically stated that those “parents whose sons and daughter were involved in swapping the NSPC answer scripts must own moral responsibility.” Likewise, they are to be “out of any government assignment as it will prejudice the investigation process,” the NSF said
The federation reminded that it had waited for 20 days ‘thinking good reason will prevail and the parliamentary secretary will relinquish himself from the present assignment owning moral responsibility’. “Surprisingly, instead of doing so he has started defending himself which is left to the general public to judge”, the NSF stated. The NSF also categorically rubbished the question of ‘targeting him alone as an individual.’ This issue does not rise at all as the federation made clear in its supplementary memo.
Calling upon the parliamentary secretary and other tainted government servants to take moral responsibility, the NSF stated that it was obligated on their part to refuse any table or assignment till the investigation into the NPSC scandal is over. The NSF added that it would response to any other contentions if needed in the near future.
