NSF convenes emergency council meet over COVID-19 appointments

Kohima, February 4 (MExN): The Naga Students' Federation (NSF) has convened its second Emergency Presidential Council Meeting on February 7 in view of the expiry of its ultimatum to the Nagaland Government over the regularisation of Medical Officers and other health workers appointed during the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the NSF, the meeting is being called in response to what it described as the State Government’s continued disregard of resolutions adopted during the Emergency Presidential Council Meeting held on September 1, 2025, and an ultimatum issued on December 20, 2025, concerning the alleged unconstitutional regularisation of COVID-19 appointees.

The meeting is scheduled to be held on February 7at 12:00 noon at NSF Oking and all presidents of federating units and subordinate bodies have been directed to attend.

The NSF stated that the meeting will deliberate on the current situation and decide on further democratic measures, citing concerns over merit-based recruitment and the role of constitutional bodies such as the Nagaland Public Service Commission and the Nagaland Staff Selection Board.
