Appeals to Nagaland government to come up with ‘ceiling fee structure’
Wokha, November 25 (MExN): Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) today appealed to the Government of Nagaland to look into the matter of schools and colleges in the State charging “exorbitant” fees from the students and come up with a “ceiling fee structure” for all the educational institutions.
In a letter to the Chief Secretary, NSF president, Subenthung Kithan and Secretary Education, Imtiyapang said it has been brought to the notice of the Federation that many schools and colleges in the state are charging “exorbitant” fees from the students as there is no proper guidelines from the government and the concerned department to the schools and colleges to monitor the same.
“As you are well aware that majority of the people in our state are farmers and from low income earning families and the only way for our people to compete with the rest of the world is through education. However, instead of giving equal opportunity to the students, educational institutions are charging exorbitant fees from the students and imposing untold hardship to the weaker sections of the society and are always rendered at the receiving end,” lamented the NSF.
Therefore, the Federation urged upon the Government to seriously look into the matter.
