A day after the building presently occupied by the Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) was damaged by unknown individuals, Police said it has made a breakthrough in the investigation process by detaining one person and identifying several persons through the CCTV footage.
The Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima and PRO, Relo T Aye, informed The Morung Express that the driver of a JCB excavator has been taken into custody along with the truck used during the demolition.
The PRO also added that the police are ascertaining the identities of the persons through the CCTV footage. He however, did not divulge as to how many persons have been identified and whether further arrests were made.
This lead, he added, has given a breakthrough to the investigation.
In this connection, a case was registered at North Police Station, Kohima yesterday under relevant sections of IPC and a five member SIT headed by Additional Superintendent of Police, Kohima was constituted to investigate into the matter.
While the Naga Club (NC), in a fresh development, has also written to the Officer in-charge of the Police station, seeking nullification of the FIR complaint. Police while acknowledging receipt of the letter, declined to give any comment during the time of filing the report.
Aye said investigation is on, while adding that assessment on the worth of properties damaged has not be ascertained yet.
