NSF on IRB deployment

Dimapur, August 23 (MExN): The Naga Students’ Federation (NSF) urges ‘the government’ to “deploy the Naga Jawans after giving special training and being provided with improved weapons.” The NSF was taking  “into account”  the August 21 ‘revolt’ at NAPTC (Chümukedima) where advance companies of the 10th NAP (IR) protested the poor conditions they were subjected to. “The NSF while showing its solidarity to the Naga boys to be deployed for anti-naxal operations in Purulia, West Bengal, has strongly urged upon the concerned authority to deploy the Naga jawans after giving special training and being provided with improved weapons,” stated the NSF in a note from its generals secretary O Wati Jamir. “The federation once again reminds the Government of Nagaland that our Naga youths deployed for such operation at those sensitive areas should be made equipped with advance weapon  to tackle those naxals who are properly trained and well-equipped.”

The organization expressed concern that “past deployments have been carelessly organized in their set out for such operation where many Naga jawans’ precious life has been mislaid and lost.” The government is also questioned as to why IR Jawans of Nagaland “are deployed to only sensitive areas unlike the existing IR  jawans of the other states who are reserved  at  case  regions.”
